Register now! Hack for Change Baltimore is the local version of the first ever National Day of Civic Hacking, which will take place June 1-2, 2013. Hackathon participants will use technology and entrepreneurial thinking to tackle some of our city's most pressing social challenges. The hackathon will unite government and citizens making information available and useable for good, as well as showcase the value of getting involved in civic hacking in our city.

Tech and Social Change: Devine Design

This month’s Tech and Social Change Meetup dealt with web design for nonprofits, but the discussion had lessons that can be applied to anyone who uses persuasive communication. Scott Paley of Abstract Edge lead the evening’s dialogue about how nonprofits can be more effective with their online communication.

Ed Schmalzle is cofounder of Back Forty and a mover and shaker in Baltimore's open source developer community. This week he joins Sharon Paley and Andrew Hazlett to talk about learning to program, the power of peer-to-peer education, and why exactly young men and women choose to spend leisure time perfecting their coding skills. He invites experienced and aspiring developers to check out the Open Source Hack Night and other meetups like Baltimore Cocoa (for iOS developers).
